What can you expect from the sequel to one of the favorite Nintendo 64 games of 2000? A lot. Pokémon Stadium 2 comes with four new tournaments, 12 new minigames, and lots of fun extras, like special Pokéquizzes to test your level of mastery. And you're sure to find your favorite monsters, because--gulp!--249 Pokémon are present in the game. As in Pokémon Stadium, you can train and battle your monsters, as well as transfer them (via the separately sold Transfer Pak) from your favorite Game Boy titles--including the newer Gold and Silver editions of the game.

Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness
Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness takes the original formula and updates it for the new millennium. The most striking change is the game's new 3-D orientation. The play is expanded, but it is largely based on the original. Maze Madness involves a weird story of gems being scattered throughout Pac-Land. A witch is after the gems, so you must find them all before she does. Maze Madness is a bit of a misleading title, because while the game does involve mazes, it's the puzzles that will stop your progress. Most of the puzzles aren't that hard, but a few will stump you for a bit. There are blocks to push, TNT to explode, and springboards that propel you upward. Players are awarded stars for completing different tasks, such as finding all the fruit in a level, munching all the pellets in a level, or beating the level in time-trial mode. Initially, earning one star per level will get you to the next stage, but you must go back and earn more stars to unlock later levels. Maze Madness' graphics are smooth and crisp, but they aren't very detailed. The game has the look and feel of a cartoon's minimal lighting effects. Ms. Pac-Man herself is just a round polygonal sphere with some textures, arms, and legs glued on. Where this game excels is in the level design. A puzzle game like this is made or broken on the ingenuity of the levels. Also, Maze Madness features some multiplayer options, which, combined with its simple, family-friendly gameplay, makes it an excellent choice for a party game. --Todd Mowatt--This text refers to the Sega Dreamcast edition of this game

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 N64
They say the third time's a charm, but what if everything was done right the first and second time around? That's the hurdle Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 faces, as previous entries in this series are regarded by most gamers as perfect. Difficult as it is to believe, Pro Skater 3 introduces enough new features and great skate parks to make it another must-buy. The biggest addition is the revert, which when combined with the manual introduced in the previous game, lets players string together some amazing vert and grind combos. Once again, every ledge you see in the game is grindable, and the massive levels are packed with switches, hidden areas, and other secrets that will take months to fully explore (and exploit). Things are a little on the chunky side graphically, but that's to be expected. Regardless, the animation is smooth and the frame rate stays high despite the enormous and complex environments this game lets players explore. The eclectic soundtrack--which features acts ranging from the Ramones to Del the Funky Homosapien--is another highlight, but it's still the Zenlike feeling you get from chaining together combo after outrageous combo that keeps you coming back for more. --T.
